The Looking Glass of 2011

I have been reviewing my work of 2011 and have found new work to have been slow.  My full-time job as a Fabricator has taken up most of my time because of new work demands  and schedules.  My art work was displayed in the River Edge Gallery in Wyandotte Michigan, the Exo Hair Saloon and Gallery in Allen Park Michigan, and "the Creative Process project" at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan.

I am striving to let go of painting the Stainless Steel art because it makes it look to realistic but many people still insist on seeing it done in my original format, wet-on-wet acrylics.
By looking forward into the New Year I intend to open a new line of work that is Thermal Coated with bronze in the line-of-sight application.  This is to avoid covering the metal work and secondly to add a new dimension to fine craft by applying Patina Solutions for the hues instead of Acrylics.

Review of completed work

I have put together a short video covering some of my completed work for my viewers.  The work is completed in a Stainless Steel medium and has been either acrylic painted or given hues by heat tinting the alloy.   All craftsmanship is hand made and follows old world techniques with a modern twist.

Single Red Rose

The single red rose was made with simple layout but still elegant with deep memory.  People tell me that the simple rose is a favorite of theirs because it serves as a lasting memory to their loved ones.  The subject line of the Rose is also favored because there are also so many variations of rose types and color variations.

History of Artist Techniques

As we all know history will exchange paths at one time or another on the things we do. The artist conducted a search for quite sometime to find the exchange of his "Artistic Balance".

The art of Mr. Christoph Beck of Basel, Switzerland, 1682 is very close in technique and style. Mr. Beck made the "Crown of the Silver Guild" and presented it to the Royal House of Switzerland. The primary difference is the mediums, he used the malleable alloy Silver and I use Stainless Steel.

I have challenged myself to create sculptures of refined detail with the style of ancient world metal work that holds a modern twist. With a painterly style, layering of translucent acrylics brings out the details of the "Single Blow and Repousse' techniques". A subject line that is taken from the essence of nature for a full body art by making a balanced composition. High expectations for quality, an art style for those that demand better things in their life style.

Asian Prince

Being creative in new designs for interior decorating is a passion for Dave Bushell. He composed this piece of art slowly as to give mother nature simple kisses of delight. The combination of Asian Orchid, Western Gardenia, and Ornamental Grass became a great composition of Bushell's favorites. The design is soft yet it releases a sensual tone for decorating in her favorite room or office setting. The art was made in Dec '08 measuring 15"x 16" of Stainless Steel and Acrylic mediums.

Hosting Hospitality with Sculptures

This is "Steel Magnolia which was made in 2004. The medium is stainless steel that has been painted with acrylic. Measurements of the art are 12"W by 14"H which make it easy to place in different locations of the home or office.

The sculpure offers elegance for any room that occupies other art pieces or just by itself. By setting the piece by itself the viewer is drawn to its magnetic personality, which gives hospitality.

For whom do I create the art form? I create my art for people that want to buy it.

Who am I

I am a self-taught artist working in metal sculptures of floral & nature related design. I have been developing my style and technique for 8 year.  The art is intended to be for interior decorating right now and is being expanded to exterior design.  The medium is currently of Stainless Steel that has been heat-treated to obtain the desired hues and/or painted with acrylics.  

The artist is not trying to copy mother nature but instead drawing out the essence of mother nature to capture the subject in sculpture.

Currently, sculptures have been made as table arrangements, wallscapes, and pedistal arrangements.

I am open to suggestions and feed-back to the art and progression for future works.
